톰존은 1940년 영국태생으로 벌써 환갑이 지난 65세이지만
아직도 미국에서 왕성한 활동을 하고 있는 노가수이다
어릴때 교회 성가대에서 활약
16세에 조기결혼 하여 생계를 위해 막노동,외판원등을 했으나
20대에 들어서 부터 가수의 꿈을 실현 시켰다
마침 고향 선배인 고든 밀스가 매니져가 됨에 따라
그의 본명을 당시 인기 영화 제목인 톰 존스로 바꾸고
우리나라의 조영남 처럼
남의 노래를 각색해서 부르면서 인기를 얻기 시작
이 푸른잔디를 리바이벌 하여 부르면서
영국에서 3주간 계속 정상을 기록하는 자리매김을 했다
엮씨 어느 분야이든 대가가 되자면
시장이 큰 미국으로 옴겨야 되듯이
그도 가족과 함께 캘리포니아로 이주,
그의 음악적 열정은 아직도 20대를 풍미하듯
